Samuel Roy Hagar, más conocido como Sammy Hagar, es un famoso cantante, guitarrista, y compositor de Rock Norteamericano. Entre otras bandas perteneció a Van Halen entre los años 1985 y 1996.

Años antes, en el transcurso de su carrera como solista, creó la mencionada canción "I Can`t Drive 55", que nace como protesta a la limitación federal de no poder conducir en autopistas a más de 55 millas por hora (88 Kms/h). Ley que tiempo más tarde sería modificada y finalmente abolida.

La canción pertenece además, a la banda sonora del PELICULÓN, "Volver al Futuro Parte 2", y como es de cabezona aquella historia, se hace coincidente con los 88 Kms/h...
